How to Save Energy With MR16 Track Lighting
by Derek Larusso
Incandescent reflector lights were standard but there was a need for an alternative that was well-ventilated and could beam at multiple angles. What filled that need was the MR16, a type of halogen multifaceted reflector light ideal for directional lighting. It has the versatility required for landscape or display lighting, desk lamps or bicycle headlights, non-dichroic recessed ceiling lights or track lights. Halogen MR16 track lighting has low to medium density, low voltage at 12V or 24V, low wattage from 50 to 75 watts.
Whether it's for tapered spot lights or wide flood lights, MR16 halogen lights provide selective lighting efficiently. Their compact size is perfect for the discreet lighting fixtures attached to a freejack, monorail or 2 circuit rail track system. MR16 track lighting is truly adaptable, with its fixed, transitional adjustable, swivel, swing arm or other movable track heads wasting no light where it is not needed.
Change up interiors without the steep cost of a professional design job by using MR16 track light systems. Choose from hurricane, flute, blossom, mission, cargo solid or ribbed, pleat, mouth-blown Murano and other glass shields. Tracks can have steel, chrome, black or white baked enamel, polished nickel, satin nickel, white cord, white glass, antique brass or bronze and other decorative finishes.
Halogen MR16 track lighting saves over 60 percent more energy than incandescent reflector lights but not at the expense of illumination. Efficient and affordable, it is available as complete systems or design your own, pre-assembled or do-it-yourself, in starter kits that are easy to install.
